Washington, D.C. 20054 Dear Mr. Chairman: WASHINGTON OFFICE: ROOM 2328 RAYBURN HOUSE OFFICE BUILDING WASHINGTON, DC 20515-2215 (202) 225-4071 DISTRICT OFFICES: 19855 WEST OUTER DRIVE SUITE 103-E DEARBORN, Ml48124 (313) 278-2936 23 EAST FRONT STREET SUITE 103 MONROE, Ml48161 (734) 243-1849 301 WEST MICHIGAN AVENUE SUITE 305 YPSILANTI, Ml48197 (734) 481-1100 In 2014, the Commission will be statutorily obligated to commence another Quadrennial Review of Broadcast Rules. I note with some concern that the Commission- after three years - has yet to complete its 2010 Quadrennial Review. Absent successful conclusion of the current review, I fear that the Commission's future efforts with respect to broadcast rules will suffer for lack of a complete record. Moreover, I note that a draft order that purportedly reflects current realities with respect to media ownership has been on circulation at the Commission for some time now. All the same, I appreciate the complexity involved in amending cross-ownership rules and commend the Commission for its February 26, 2013, Public Notice seeking comment on such rules' effect on minority ownership and newsgathering. This is an extremely important aspect of the Quadrennial Review. I urge the Commission to move expeditiously to incorporate the views solicited in its Notice into a final order that promotes the public interest and recognizes the continuously evolving state of media ownership in this country and, indeed, globally. Thank you for your kind consideration of my views on this matter. Should-you have any questions, please feel free to be in touch with me directly or have a.member of your staff contact Andrew Woelfling in my office at telephone number 202-225-4071.
