FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION August 22, 2013 Mignon L. Clyburn Acting Chairwoman The Honorable Frank Pallone U.S. House of Representatives 237 Cannon House Office Building Washington, D.C. 20515 Dear Congressman Pallone: Thank you for your letter expressing concern about WWOR-TV and the Commission's review of issues associated with its license renewal. Your letter will be included in the record of the proceeding and considered as part ofthe Commission's review. This proceeding has presented a number of complex issues and allegations for the Commission to consider in the context of the WWOR-TV license renewal. As you know, WWOR's license renewal was challenged by parties concerned that the station has failed to serve the citizens of New Jersey as required by its license. WWOR responds that the Petitioners have failed to take into account all of the public affairs programming on the station and contends that additional Commission evaluation of its programming content would violate the First Amendment. Commission staff continues to work to conclude the proceeding in a way that appropriately balances our statutory authority and the requirements ofthe station to serve the public interest for the benefit of the citizens of New Jersey. I appreciate your interest in this matter. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Sincerely, 445 12th Street S. W. Washington, D.C. 20554 (202) 418-1000
