LINDSEY 0 . GRAHAM SOUTH CAROLINA UNITED STATES SENATE July 22, 2014 The Honorable Tom Wheeler Chairman, Federal Communications Commission 445 12th Street S.W. Washington, DC 20554 Dear Chairman Wheeler: 290 RUSSELL SENATE OFFICE BUILDING WASIUNGTON, DC 20510 (202) 224-5972 In light of proposed telecommunication mergers, I write to highlight the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) commitment to ensure access to telecommunication services in rural South Carolina. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 codified Congress' commitment to providing universal telecommunications and information services to all regions of the nation. Furthermore, FCC's National Broadband Plan maintains that the lack of adequate broadband availability is most pressing in rural America. As telecommunication mergers are considered, I will follow the potential impacts on rural South Carolina citizens and their ability to access telecommunication services. Sincerely, N.."* raham United States Senator 508 HAMPTON STREET SuiTE 202 COLUMBIA, SC 29201 (803) 933-{)1 12 401 WEST EVAN$ STflEET SUITE 1 II FLORENCE, SC 29501 (843) 669-1505 1 130 SOUTH MAIN STREET SUITE 700 GREENVILLE, SC 29601 (864) 250-1417 530 JOHNNIE Dooos BouLEVARD SUITE 202 MOUNT PLEASANT, SC 29464 (843) 849-3887 235 EAST MAIN STREET SUITE 100 ROCK HILL, SC 29730 (803) 366-2828 124 EXCHANGE STREET SUITE A PENDLETON, SC 29670 (864) 646-4090
