Clyburn today announced the appointment of Claude Aiken as wireline legal advisor, and the departure of Rebekah Goodheart, who has served as the Commissioner’s wireline legal advisor since 2013. “Claude has proven time and again to be a fantastic legal mind as well as a trusted and insightful advisor. He gets it, and gets it done. I am delighted that he has accepted this appointment,” said Commissioner Clyburn. “Rebekah will be dearly missed. She has been an integral part of my office, and has been instrumental in the protection of consumers and the advancement of competition during her time here at the Commission. I cannot thank her enough for her wise counsel, tireless work ethic, incisive legal and policy counsel, and skillful handling of the many demands this position has required. I wish her all the best as she departs the Commission.” Mr. Aiken joins the Commissioner’s staff from his position as Associate General Counsel and Special Advisor on Internet Law and Policy. Prior to his position in the General Counsel’s office, Mr. Aiken was a Deputy Division Chief in the Wireline Competition Bureau’s Competition Policy Division. He also served as Special Counsel in the Office of Strategic Planning and Policy Analysis, and held attorney positions in the Wireline Competition Bureau and Office of General Counsel. Mr. Aiken joined the FCC in 2008 through the FCC’s Attorney Honors Program. He graduated cum laude from New York Law School, where he was a Harlan Honors Scholar in Information Law and Policy. He has a Bachelor of Arts from Grove City College. Ms. Goodheart has been at the Commission since 2008. Before joining the Commissioner’s office she served as Deputy Director of the Technology Transitions Policy Task Force and Associate Chief of the Wireline Competition Bureau. She previously served as a Senior Policy Advisor for the Omnibus Broadband Initiative, developing many of the recommendations in National Broadband Plan. She also served as Assistant Division Chief in the Industry Analysis Division of the Media Bureau. Prior to joining the Commission, Rebekah served as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division in the Telecommunications and Media Enforcement Section, and was an associate at the law firm Wiley Rein LLP.
