The NANC NNP Report noted that the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions’ (“ATIS”) Packet Technology & Systems Committee “is currently reviewing possible technical solutions for NNP and is expected to have possible recommendations available in the coming months that may provide further information related to preferred industry technical solutions related to NNP.” (@ pg. 12). Accordingly, I would like to provide you with an update on the ATIS’s and NANC’s work on NNP implementation technical solutions. At its June 30. 2016 meeting, the NANC was informed by the l’uture of Numbering Working Group (“FoN WG”) that the ATIS had completed its initial analysis of possible technical solutions for NNP and had provided the FoN WG with a copy of the draft technical report on NNP. A copy of the ATIS’s draft NNP report was provided to the NANC members and discussed at the June 30 meeting. The ATIS’s draft NNP report considers live approaches to implementing NNP, but makes no recommendation on a specific approach to pursue. The ATIS report identifies the key impacts of each proposal and notes that further analysis is warranted before making a decision on any specific approach to implementing NNP. The Local Number Portability Administration Working Group (“LNPA WG”) reported at the NANC’s June 30 meeting that it was currently reviewing the ATIS’s NNP report and would report back to [lie NANC at the September 15. 2016 meeting on the results of its evaluation of’ the ATIS’s NNP report. Subsequent to the NANC’s June 30 meeting the ATIS released to the public its ‘Technical Report on a Nationwide Number Portability Study”; ATIS-1000071). A copy of’ the ATIS report is attached. Finally, as the FCC considers the policy and technical issues related to implementing NNP, please be aware that the NANC stands ready to assist the Wireline Competition and Wireless Telecommunications Bureaus, the Technology Transitions Policy Task Force and others in this endeavor. Please feel free to contact me or my Policy Advisor, Cary B. Hinton (chintonpsc.dc.gov), if you or members of your staff have any questions regarding this matter. Sincerely, Betty Ann Kane Chairman North American Numbering Council Attachment cc: Kris Monteith, FCC Ann Stevens, FCC Marilyn Jones, FCC Sanford Williams, FCC Carmel Weathers. FCC NANC Members
