Commissioner Rosenworcel said: “I am delighted that Umair is joining my office. Umair’s background in communications law and policy and dedication to serving the public will mean good counsel for my office and excellent support for the work of the Commission.” Before joining the Commission, Mr. Javed was an Associate in the Telecom, Media, and Technology practice group at Wiley Rein, LLP, where he focused on domestic and international telecommunications issues and spectrum policy. Mr. Javed also served on U.S. delegations to conferences and meetings of the United Nations’ International Telecommunication Union. Mr. Javed currently serves as Commissioner of the Consumer Protection Commission of Fairfax County and previously was a firefighter and EMT and founder of Red Truck Foundation, a non- profit assisting with emergency response training in developing countries.
