Media Contact: Will Wiquist, (202) 418-0509 will.wiquist@fcc.gov For Immediate Release CHAIRMAN PAI ANNOUNCES WEBRE TO SERVE AS CHIEF OF THE CONSUMER AND GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS BUREAU -- WASHINGTON, March 5, 2018— Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai today announced the agency has chosen Patrick Webre as chief of the FCC’s Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau, continuing the work he has been doing as acting chief. “We work for the American consumer and it’s our Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau which is tasked with keeping a steady eye on consumers’ needs and concerns,” said Chairman Pai. “Every day, the Bureau takes on vital tasks like fielding consumer complaints, ensuring accessibility of telecom services, and fighting scam calls. It’s reassuring that this work will continue to benefit from Patrick’s leadership and talents.” The Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau develops and implements the FCC’s consumer policies and serves as the agency’s connection to the American consumer. It is responsible for both engaging with consumers generally and providing outreach to state, local, and Tribal governments. The staff of the Bureau reviews consumer complaints, helps consumers engage with service providers to seek solutions to billing concerns, and works on public policy and legal matters related to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, disability rights, and more. During his career, Mr. Webre served in several leadership roles at the FCC including as an Associate Bureau Chief and Chief Programs Officer in the Bureau he now leads, legal advisor to the chief of the Media Bureau, and an attorney in the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. Immediately prior to rejoining the Commission last year as acting chief, Mr. Webre worked at Jenner & Block in Washington, DC.
