STATEMENT OF COMMISSIONER BRENDAN CARR
On Introduction of the SMARTER Act
WASHINGTON, May 15, 2018—FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr released the following 
statement regarding Senator Mike Lee’s introduction of the SMARTER Act in the U.S. Senate. 
“I applaud Senator Lee for working to ensure that good government is the law of the land.  With 
the SMARTER Act, Senator Lee would put the Federal Communications Commission on a shot clock 
and thus codify the agency’s commitment to open, transparent, and timely decision making.”
