Media Contact: Will Wiquist, (202) 418-0509 will.wiquist@fcc.gov For Immediate Release CHAIRMAN PAI ANNOUNCES CALVOSA AS FCC CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER -- WASHINGTON, February 1, 2019— Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai today announced the appointment of Christine Calvosa as the Federal Communications Commission’s Chief Information Officer. “I am delighted that Ms. Calvosa will be serving as the FCC’s Chief Information Officer,” said Chairman Pai. “The FCC’s aggressive agenda requires an expert and agile information technology team. That team needs a leader with deep expertise in all aspects of IT development, deployment, and information security. This is especially important because Congress last year enhanced the responsibilities of the FCC’s CIO—responsibilities the FCC recently codified in our rules. Ms. Calvosa is an ideal choice for this role. During her time as Acting CIO, she oversaw the information technology for the 28 GHz auction and led implementation of the FCC’s updated and modernized National Broadband Map. In short, Ms. Calvosa has demonstrated the ability to deliver on this agency’s complex information technology requirements. I look forward to continuing to work with her.” Prior to being named Chief Information Officer, Ms. Calvosa was the Acting CIO for the FCC for over one year and for several years was the FCC’s Deputy CIO for Technology and Resiliency. Prior to joining the FCC in 2014, Ms. Calvosa served as the Chief Technology Officer at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the second largest agency within USDA. In addition, from 2005 to 2010, Ms. Calvosa served as a senior consultant for management oversight and information technology for multiple Federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of the Treasury, and U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Ms. Calvosa holds a Master of Science in Information System Technology from George Washington University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems and a Minor in International Studies from Pennsylvania State University. ### Office of Media Relations: (202) 418-0500 ASL Videophone: (844) 432-2275; TTY: (888) 835-5322 Twitter: @FCC www.fcc.gov/media-relations This is an unofficial announcement of Commission action.
