The funding will go toward purchasing the technology necessary to expand Plic,enix House's telemedicine program in response to the COVID-19 health crisis. Founded in 1967, Phoenix House is a substance and alcohol abuse treatment network with eight kications throughout New York and more than 120 treatment programs across the United States. More than 500 adults and teenagers are served in New York State through long-term and short-term treatment in both residential and outpatient facilities. 'Ihis nonprofit organization offers specialized treatment programs for veteran, military personnel, and their families, as well as individuals coping with mental illness along with addiction. 'l'he requested funding will be used to enable Phoenix House to reach approximately 1,000 New Yorkers with substance abuse disorder through telemedicine. During this stressful, difficult time, mental health and substance abuse treatment is more iinportant than ever. Both veterans and community members at large would be served. According to the (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, "increased stress can lead to increases in alcohol and substance use." Phoenix House is able to offer more New Yorkers the help they need during this unprecedented health crisis. I ask that you please give this application your full consideration.
