Carr Recognizes Veteran and Tower Climber Amber Perez with ‘5G Ready’ Hard Hat WASHINGTON, DC, May 5, 2022—FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr has been recognizing the contributions of America’s hard-working tower climbers through a series of 5G Ready Hard Hat presentations. He previously recognized tower workers Shama Ray, Brandon Foster and Ammon Snyder, Jessica Reich, and Jeremy Buckles. Today, Carr is recognizing another talented 5G worker—Amber Perez. Carr had the opportunity to climb with Amber in Florida last year. A veteran and former mechanic in the U.S. Army, Amber works today as a tower tech instructor. In that role, she helps other former service members secure good-paying jobs in the tower industry as they transition out of the military. Carr issued the following statement: “Last year, I had the chance to tag along with Amber as she took about a half-dozen students up a tower for their first climb—quite literally showing them the ropes. As a veteran and former mechanic in the U.S. Army, Amber epitomizes the best of America’s hard-working tower techs. I was so impressed by her leadership and her focus on helping former service members and others learn the mix of classroom and climbing skills needed to land a good-paying job in the tower industry. Growing this highly-skilled workforce is key to extending America’s 5G leadership and expanding the opportunities that a high-speed wireless connection can bring to communities across the country. Amber is a great example of America’s 5G workforce. And I am grateful for the important work she is doing.” Amber works as a tower technician trainer for Florida-based Learning Alliance Corporation.
