Carr Announces Lauren Garry as Legal Advisor Thanks Danielle Thumann for Her Public Service WASHINGTON, July 12, 2023—Today, FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr announced that Lauren Garry has joined his office as Legal Advisor. He also thanked Danielle Thumann, who served as Commissioner Carr’s Legal Advisor since 2021, for her public service. “I am delighted that Lauren has agreed to join my office as a Legal Advisor,” said Commissioner Carr. “Lauren brings a broad range of policy knowledge and legal expertise to the job, and her experience in both the public and private sectors will be a strong asset for the office. I look forward to drawing on her counsel and advice.” Lauren joins Commissioner Carr’s office from the Wireline Competition Bureau, Telecommunications Access Policy Division, where she focused on the High-Cost Program, including the Connect America Fund and the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund. Lauren also served as the Designated Federal Officer for the Precision Agriculture Connectivity Task Force. Before entering the Commission through the Attorney Honors Program, Lauren was a Law Clerk to the Honorable William S. Colwell in the Office of Administrative Law Judges at the Department of Labor. She has also worked for Comcast Corporation, the U.S. Senate, and the U.S. House of Representatives. Lauren received her J.D. cum laude and M.B.A. from American University and has an undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College. “I also want to extend my deep gratitude and appreciation to Danielle for her public service and wish her and her family all the best on their upcoming move,” said Commissioner Carr. “Danielle is a real talent, and she has played an invaluable role since joining my office in 2021.” “Danielle brought great depth of telecom and policy experience and provided me with valuable guidance across a wide range of issues. Danielle joined Commissioner Carr’s office from the Washington, D.C., office of Wilkinson Barker Knauer. After attending the University of Virginia for her undergraduate degree, Danielle earned her J.D. cum laude from the Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law where she was Associate Editor of the Catholic University Law Review.
