Federal Communications Commission FCC 07-24 STATEMENT OF COMMISSIONER DEBORAH TAYLOR TATE Re: In the Matter of Shareholders of Univision Communications, Inc. and Broadcasting Media Partners The Children’s Television Act of 1990 requires the Commission to ensure that television broadcast station licensees provide programming specifically designed to serve the educational and informational needs of children. I take this congressional charge very seriously, especially given the prominent role that television plays in our children’s lives. The action we take today underscores my – and, indeed, the entire Commission’s – commitment to families all across America, who demand and deserve quality children’s programming. I am pleased that, by entering into the attached Consent Decree and, particularly, by implementing a new, company-wide compliance plan, Univision has demonstrated that it takes its obligation to provide such programming seriously, too.
